Africa-EU High-Level Forum

Austria holds the rotating Presidency of the Council of the European Union (EU) in the second half of 2018. True to the conclusions agreed upon at the European Council on June 28, 2018, Europe needs to take the extent and the quality of its cooperation with Africa to a new level, moving beyond focusing on migration as a common challenge. Austria is committed to contributing to this aim.
President Kagame of Rwanda is the Chairman of the African Union for 2018. As an advocate for the advancement of an African single digital market, he has emphasized that a pathway to prosperity for all Africans, especially young people, can only be achieved by infusing African economies with technology and collaborating with Africa’s private sector.

B2B and B2G Meetings

Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda and current Chairperson of the African Union, and Sebastian Kurz, Federal Chancellor of the Republic of Austria, holding the rotating presidency of the Council of the EU, cordially invite African and European heads of state or government, CEOs of major global companies as well as innovative entrepreneurs and stakeholders to the High Level Forum Africa Europe.

Corporates, as well as startups, will have the opportunity to interact with high-level government representatives, potential investors and cooperation partners.

High-Level Round Tables on topics such as Startup-Financing, Fintech, Edtech, Agriculture 4.0, Renewable Energy, etc.
Individual, pre-booked meetings with other conference participants.

At a glance

ADYFE and UNIDO have enjoyed a strong cooperation in the past, collaborating on several events and past editions of the Accelerated Africa+ Conference. Through the years, the cooperation has grown and expanded into a structured partnership, encompassing several projects and events throughout the year. In 2016, AAC+ was re-branded to what the conference is today.

The annual AcceleratedAfrica+ Conference has previously brought together different stakeholders involved in furthering job opportunities and entrepreneurial endeavors in Africa. The past editions of the event offered participants a chance to engage with others on a business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-government (B2G) level, with over +1,800 B2B and B2G linkages made in 2017. Additionally, to the meetings between stakeholders and with potential investors, the conference created a space for CEOs and entrepreneurs to start and develop their companies, and promote the creation of joint ventures between diaspora entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs on the continent. The 2017 edition of the event connected over +183 entrepreneurs, that represented 48 nationalities..


AAC+ aims to support the diaspora and entrepreneurs in Africa in combating the challenges that come with entrepreneurship on the continent, as well as to promote new linkages between the diaspora and their local communities. The conference aims to explore the potential contribution of the diaspora to job creation, economic development, and technological transfer on the African continent.

From Entrepreneur to CEO

The Conference will take place over two days. The first day offers four workshops targeting young entrepreneurs in order to provide them with an introduction to the different tools, products and services available and provided by UNIDO, and train entrepreneurs on business feasibility, the creation and access to innovative financing, communication, market positioning, digitalization & IT. The second day will consist of different panels discussing various relevant topics.

Channeling the Power of the Diaspora:

This year’s theme highlights the central role of the diaspora in facilitating job creation and economic development on the African continent. Entrepreneurship is regarded as the stepping stone towards sustainable job creation, and contributes to a thriving private sector.

In this regard the Conference will present the main challenges African entrepreneurs are faced with when creating a business on the continent and will explore solutions from the perspectives of several stakeholders. The main objective of the conference will be to build on the strengths of different participants, in order to enable both groups (local entrepreneurs as well as the diaspora) to achieve their goals, by fostering connections between both through the involvement of the diaspora in the emergence of young entrepreneurs, while offering capacity-building to existing ones.
